Document Subject: Great code to Export a view to Excel
Hint Short Cut: Add this to your code & documentation to help you find this page.
http://#ViewToExcel or http://A555F9/nn.nsf/ByAlias/ViewToExcel

This code can be stuck in an action button on any view and it will export the view to Excel. The code picks up the name of the view, the column headers and all of the documents. It works with R4 by making use of the postopen event. Now allows user to select documents!

Stick this in an Action button on the view.

If you have Release 4 users, you need to add this code into the Post open event of each view

' Code to export a view to excel
' Adam Foster 22/8/2002
' AF Updated 20/8/2002 to work with R4
' See http://www.notesninjas.com/#ViewToExcel
' This allows the Excel Export Action button to work with R4 Clients
Dim s As New notessession
If Instr(s.NotesVersion, "Release 4") Then
 Call s.setenvironmentvar ("CurrentView",  source.view.name)
End If

To find out how the Exel colours work try:

http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/colors.htm

NB One problem  with this which is a sort of security risk, is that if you use this on a single category view, all documents in the view will export not just the category. I will rewrite this to work for a single category one day.
